Minor injuries reported in two-vehicle crash

MARQUETTE — Marquette Police Department officers Thursday handled a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 41 and McClellan Avenue.

According to police department sources, the incident took place at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The driver of the first vehicle involved, a 58-yer-old woman from Traverse City, and several passengers in that vehicle, were transported by ambulance to UPHS-Marquette for evaluation of minor injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle involved, a 25-year-old man from Marquette, sought his own treatment for minor injuries.

The MPD preliminary investigation has determined that the driver of the first vehicle was westbound on U.S. 41 at the McClellan intersection and made an improper left turn onto McClellan Avenue traveling south. She crossed into the path of the second vehicle, which was eastbound on U.S. 41 and had a green light, causing the collision.

Assisting MPD at the scene was the Marquette Fire Department, UPHS-Marquette ambulance, the Michigan State Police and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.
