GRANT TOWNSHIP — Officers with the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a motorcycle crash that took place late Monday morning.

According to sheriff’s office officials, the incident took place at 11:59 a.m. Monday in Grant Township of Keweenaw County on U.S. 41, in the vicinity of the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge.

Officers say a 68-year-old male. who was riding alone, was traveling north when he failed to negotiate a corner, subsequently hitting a guardrail. The victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was from White Plains, Kentucky. His identity has not been released.

The sheriff’s office was assisted Mercy Ambulance, Copper Harbor Fire and First Responders and the Keweenaw County Medical Examiners Office.
