MARQUETTE — Anglers, mark your calendars.

The Lake Gogebic Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the 47th annual Lake Gogebic fall walleye tournament will be held on Sept. 12-13 in Bergland Township.

Known as the premier fishing competition in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, this two-day tournament draws fishermen from across the Midwest eager to test their skills on Michigan’s largest inland lake.

The chamber states that this annual tradition is more than just a tournament — it’s a celebration of community, camaraderie and world-class fishing. Participants will compete for cash prizes, bragging rights, and the title of fall walleye champion.

“Whether you’re a seasoned angler or a weekend warrior, the Lake Gogebic fall walleye tournament offers excitement for everyone,” said the news release.

Boats leave the Bergland dock at 8 a.m. EST each day.

Register by Saturday to receive early bird rate of $50; after Sept. 6, registration increases to $75.

“Each year, this event brings people together from near and far to experience not only the great fishing Lake Gogebic is known for, but also the spirit of our community,” said Shawn Montie, Vice President of the Lake Gogebic Chamber and Chairman of the Fishing Committee, in a news release. “We’re excited to welcome anglers back for the 47th year of competition and fun.”
