ESCANABA — A victim is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries after a stabbing occurred on Monday morning in Escanaba.

Escanaba Department of Public Safety was dispatched to the Fairview Estates at approximately 7:32 a.m. on Monday responding to the report of a stabbing in progress.

While headed to the scene, Central Dispatch advised that the suspect was leaving the scene in a blue SUV. Officers came upon the victim at a neighbor’s residence upon arrival. The victim had suffered numerous stabbing wounds and was immediately transported to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Group by Rampart staff for treatment of her injuries.

According to a Tuesday press release, while on scene, central dispatch reported that the suspect had arrived at the Escanaba Department of Public Safety to turn herself in. The suspect was questioned and later transported to OSF for additional treatment.

The suspect is currently in custody and the investigation remains ongoing.
