Special election votes on township millage renewals, sinking fund decided
MARQUETTE — Voters across the Upper Peninsula cast their ballots on Tuesday regarding various township millages and renewals.
These are the results from millages and funds decided on by Marquette County voters:
≤ Champion Township General Fund Renewal: “Shall Champion Township continue to levy a tax, previously reduced to 4.9043, at an increase of up to five mills for five years for the General Fund?”
Yes: 81.8% at 36 votes
No: 18.2% at eight votes
≤ Champion Township EMS Renewal: “Shall Champion Township renew its millage, previously reduced to .9808 mills, at a full one mill for five years to fund emergency medical services?”
Yes: 81.4% at 35 votes
No: 18.6% at eight votes
≤ Champion Township Road Millage Renewal: “Shall Champion Township renew its road millage, previously reduced to 1.9617 mills, at a full two mills for five years to fund road repair and maintenance?”
Yes: 84.1% at 37 votes
No: 15.9% at seven votes
≤ Negaunee Schools Sinking Fund: “Shall Negaunee Public Schools levy no more than 2.4516 mills on property within the district for a period of 10 years (2027-2036) to support building, security, and tech improvements?”
Yes: 61.6% at 1,005 votes
No: 38.4% at 627 votes
≤ Powell Township Operating Millage Renewal: “Shall Powell Township renew its tax rate of 2.5 mills for five years to support township operation?”
Yes: 64.6% at 124 votes
No: 35.4% at 68 votes
≤ Republic Township Operating Millage Renewal: “Shall Republic Township continue to levy a tax rate of five mills for another four years to support township operation costs?”
Yes: 65.9% at 151 votes
No: 34.1% at 78 votes
