Labor Day celebration planned in Rock

MARQUETTE — The Rock Lions Club is set to host the 80th annual Labor Day celebration on Saturday, Aug. 30.

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. at the Bible Chapel, east of the M-35 intersection in Rock and then heads north to the Rock Lions Club. This year’s theme is “Summer in the U.P.”

“The parade is fun to watch,” said Rock Lions Club President Jason Rajala. “There’s (the American) Legion color guard, fire trucks, police cars, classic cars and floats throwing candy. After the parade there’s plenty of festivities at the Lions Club grounds.”

Rajala said there will be food and beverages, abeer tent, live music, and a bean bag tournament. For the kids, there will be a bounce house, tractor pulls and more.

No carry-ins are allowed. For more information on the parade, call Rajala at 906-235-1791.

Starting at $3.23/week.
