Community contribution grants awarded to local nonprofits in Negaunee
NEGAUNEE — The city of Negaunee announced the awardees for this year’s community contributions grants on Monday.
This spring, the city accepted applications of qualified organizations. Organizations must be nonprofit and within the city limits of Negaunee, funds must be expended to help the overall organization or public at-large (cannot be for an individual), and could not have received this grant the year prior. $27,617 has been awarded through this program since 2006.
The Negaunee City Council set aside $1,500 in grant funding for this year. The community contributions grants have been awarded to the Negaunee Irontown Association, who received $500 for the fireworks fund; the Negaunee VFW Post & Auxiliary #3165, who received $500 for an AED purchase; and the Little Friend’s Children Center, who received $500 for energy-efficient door installation.
Funds are made possible through community relations funding from WPPI Energy, the nonprofit wholesale power provider and joint action agency of which Negaunee is a member-owner.
