CHAMPION — It may be summer, but the spooky season is rapidly approaching.

Van Riper State Park is set to host its annual Harvest Fest weekends, with the first weekend set for Sept. 5-7.

“Join us for a spooky good time,” reads the Facebook event page. “From ghostly dances to trick-or-treating, hayrides to campsite decorating contests, we will try to haunt you with all our events. Be sure to bring the whole family, as there will be activities for everyone. Activities are for both campers and visitors.”

The second Harvest Festival weekend is set for Sept. 12-14. The park will release a detailed schedule closer to the time of the events, so check the events pages on Facebook. During trick-or-treating, the modern campground will be closed to all vehicular traffic, so campers should plan accordingly.

Starting at $3.23/week.
