Fourth of July crash leaves Ishpeming student with extensive injuries

GoFundMe set up to support family

ISHPEMING — On Friday, a student from Nice Community School District and his father were involved in a car crash; the student has serious injuries but is stable at the University of Michigan after being flown out that day.

“As some of you may know, our friend, classmate and student Gavinn Miller was in an accident this weekend,” said NICE Community School District in a public notice. “He has a long road to recovery down at U of M. Friends of his family started a GoFundMe page to help in this time of need… We are thinking of Gavinn and wishing him a quick return to good health.”

The owner of Midas in Marquette, Angie Juhola, has established a GoFundMe online fundraiser to help as one of her employees was the father involved in the crash.

“I’m doing a GoFundMe for my employee, Eric, to help raise money for bills, doctor bills, food and lodging as he’s in Ann Arbor with his son, Gavinn, after a tragic accident that took place on Friday,” said Juhola in the fundraiser’s description. “Gavinn was flown out on Friday from Marquette due to excessive injuries in the accident. He’s in serious but stable condition as of right now. But we’d like to help to relieve the stress as he’s already got enough to worry about. If you would like to donate in person instead, you can contact me personally on Facebook or in person donate at Midas in Marquette.”

As of Monday morning, just 12 hours after it was started, the fund had raised $2,000 of its $7,500 goal. Those interested in donating can visit the following link: www.gofundme.com/f/support-eric-and-gavin-after-tragic-accident.
