LUCE COUNTY — One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Luce County, according to the Luce County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred at 3:40 p.m. Thursday on M-28 near Pentland Township. The highway was closed for several hours after the crash while first responders were at the scene.

According to the sheriff’s office, one of the vehicles crossed the center line and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle

One of the vehicles caught fire. A female passenger, age 68, died at the scene. Both drivers were seriously injured and transported to Helen Newberry Joy Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation by the Luce County Sheriff’s Office. The Michigan State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit s assisting in the investigation.
