Baraga County target market analysis set

L’ANSE — The L’Anse Area Community Development Corporation has announced the upcoming distribution of the Baraga County Housing Target Market Analysis.
The village of L’Anse received a housing readiness grant through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority in September to update the 2016 Housing Target Market Analysis. The TMA assesses the housing market potential in the area. L’Anse collaborated with the LADC in the completion of the TMA.
“The village of L’Anse is proud to have worked collaboratively with the Western U.P. Planning and Development Region, the LACDC, the chamber of commerce and other partnering stakeholders, including local units of government to provide this important tool to our area” said Bob LaFave, L’Anse village manager. “The village of L’Anse, by providing the necessary leadership as the sponsor of the project, has now provided the access to up to date and timely information in this new TMA, as we collectively address the housing crisis locally here in L’Anse and throughout Baraga County.”
In an overall sense, the purpose of the TMA is to help guide revisions of articles related to housing in the village of L’Anse Master Plan and zoning ordinances. This content also benefits the other units of government in Baraga County by enabling leaders and other local officials to make planning and zoning changes that will be required or useful to accommodate housing developers. It is beneficial to the developers themselves in making informed decisions on the demand and needs of housing in the community, and allowing them to focus on the most appropriate formats and price ranges for housing production.
