Sex crime suspect arraigned

ALPENA — The sex crime suspect who was arrested aboard a lake freighter making its way through the Soo Locks Wednesday has appeared in the 88th District Court in Alpena on the charges he faces.
Dustin Haske, 34, of Alpena, was arraigned on multiple felony charges of criminal sexual conduct Thursday, according to the Michigan State Police from the Alpena post. State troopers, accompanied by the MSP Seventh District Fugitive Team, arrested Haske without incident aboard the lake freighter Kaye E. Barker, where he was employed. The arrest was made in cooperation with ship’s leadership.
Haske is charged with six counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree and two counts of criminal sexual conduct in the third degree. Bond was set at $150,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. June 12.
The multi-charge warrant was issued by the Alpena County Prosecutor’s Office following an 2024 investigation completed by the state police from the Alpena post.
