MARQUETTE – The Marquette Alger RESA Board of Education this week addressed multiple new hires as well as a several resignations, along with the giving thanks to MARESA board members who have finished their terms.
“I know we hired three individuals, so we hired an early childhood specialist, a CTE instructor and an administrative assistant,” said Monica Nordeen, director of Human Resources and Communications. “We also did hire a part-time summer title 1 teacher, to ensure students continue to catch up on their curriculum during the summer. Through one of our down state grants, we hired an education consultant. They are starting in the next contract year. We had a couple of resignations, the ones of note are an early childhood specialist that was replaced and a school social worker and school psychologist.”
During the meeting, the MARESA board also acknowledged the dedicated service of two members who decided to finish their terms and not run again.
“So only really the board comment last night where on those whose terms (that) ended in June, Julie Shaw and Christopher Croley,” Nordeen said.
Shaw has served 12 years at MARESA and Croley has served two.
“They decided not to run for their seats again, the board thanked them for their service on the board,” Nordeen said.
