MARQUETTE — Four juveniles have been identified in connection to alleged threats made Sunday against the Culver’s restaurant in Marquette Township.
The four, who have not been identified publicly, apparently made the threats via telephone calls to the restaurant, Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Township post said. The preliminary investigation … indicates that the incident was reportedly an attempt at a prank call, with no intention to cause any physical harm. Currently, there is not any known danger to the public.
“The MSP takes all reported threats seriously and thoroughly investigates each incident to ensure public safety,” said Lt. Ben Eckola, MSP Eighth District public information officer. “This type of behavior is not a joke and making false threats is never acceptable.”
An MSP written statement noted the threats were directed specifically at the Marquette Township Culver’s location and not at any specific individuals. When the investigation began, the restaurant had temporarily closed as a precaution in response to the reported threats. MSP troopers responded to Culver’s and began their investigation.
The investigation remains on-going and will be forwarded to the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office for its review. The Marquette Township Culver’s resumed normal operations yesterday.
