Ishpeming Street closed off due to isolated incident; no threat to community
ISHPEMING — An isolated incident at a Saginaw Street residence caused the Ishpeming Police Department to temporarily close the street on Wednesday afternoon.
The IPD closed a section of the street around noon, with the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, which is also on Saginaw Street, posted around 12:15 p.m. that they would be closing temporarily for a community emergency.
There was never a danger to the public during the incident, and the street was closed as a precaution as the IPD responded to an isolated incident at a home that never left the residence.
Ishpeming Public Schools also enacted a temporary lockdown for part of the afternoon as a cautionary measure.
No criminal charges are being sought, and no further information regarding the incident will be disclosed.
