BARAGA — Following the heavy rain early Thursday morning, a number of roads in Baraga County are either damaged or impassable and unable to be traveled on.

The Baraga County Road Commission released a list of roads in the county on Thursday, indicating their conditions following the rain and flooding. The list is as follows:

≤ Division Street from Broad Street to Fourth Street (adjacent to the Meadowbrook Arena)

≤ River Street from Fourth Street to the White Oak Apartments

≤ East Falls River Drive at Secret Creek

≤ Passable with Caution

≤ Golden Road, past the Trailer Park

≤ Greater L’Anse Area

≤ Closures

≤ Pequaming Road by Marksman Road

≤ Indian Cemetery Road

≤ Passable with Caution

≤ Arvon Road

≤ Skanee Road

≤ Village of Baraga

≤ East Spruce Street

≤ McGillan Street

≤ the walking trail along the lakeshore

As of Thursday afternoon, the county was continuing to assess storm damage. The L’Anse Wastewater Treatment Plant was also experiencing high flows and sewer overloads. County officials asked residents to avoid the area near the plant, along with flood waters and beaches, in order to reduce exposure to contamination.
