Cause of Marquette fire determined
MARQUETTE — The cause of a duplex fire at 107 and 109 Kaye Ave. in Marquette has been determined by the Marquette City Fire Department.
Flames swallowed the duplex back on May 12, and the cause of the fire appears to have been from discarded smoking materials, starting the fire in the grass by the southwest corner of the deck.
No injuries were reported and no one was hurt during that fire, and crews were able to extinguish the flames by 4:15 p.m. that day.
The Marquette City Fire Department, Marquette Township Fire Department, Chocolay Township Fire Department, Marquette City Police, and Upper Peninsula Health Systems – Emergency Medical Services all responded to the scene that day.
