10 charged in Marinette County drug bust

MARQUETTE — At least 10 individuals are facing up to 40 years in prison as the result of a Marinette County drug bust earlier this year.

According to a press release from the Marinette County Sheriff Randy P. Miller, the investigation dates back to February when the Northeast Tri-County Drug Enforcement Group opened in investigation to a methamphetamine trafficking organization in Marinette County. After several months of investigative work, officials were able to identify several individuals involved in the sale and distribution of the drug.

Seven search warrants were executed between April 30 and May 2nd this year in which police seized more than 400 grams of methamphetamine, two firearms, fentanyl, drug paraphernalia and more than $3,500 in cash.

Police say that Gabriel J. Kurek, 48, Bruce A. Cassady, 45, Johnathan Block, 49, John R. Hager, 33, Scott M. Klatt, 47, Maya E. Lindsay 23, Hunter L. Shehow, 23, Maggie M. Throm, 24 and Nickolas J. Wood, 27, were arrested in connection with the trafficking ring.

They are being charged with one count of conspiracy to commit-delivery of methamphetamine greater than 50 grams, which is a class C felony punishable by up to 40 years in prison, with fines up to $100,000.

The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the city of Marinette Police Department, Onconto County Sheriff’s Office, Menominee County Sheriff’s Office, city of Peshtigo Police Department, Dickinson County KIND Unit, city of Antigo Police Department, the Marathon County Drug Unit and Lake Winnebago Area MEG Unit.
