Veteran finds help after house freezes
CHAMPION — After a two-week trip out of state, a veteran found his house frozen, with his well pump and water heater both frozen and broken; and would have stayed so if 906 Warrior Relief Fund had not financed the repairs.
“I would like to express my deep gratitude to the 906 Warrior Relief Fund,” said Champion veteran Mark Feldman. “I went out of state for two weeks and returned to a frozen well pump and a broken water heater.
“Times are harder now than ever before, and after seeking help and being turned down by numerous state and federal programs, I was made aware of the 906 Warrior Relief Fund.
“The application process was easy to navigate, and everyone was extremely helpful. Thank you again, Warrior Relief Fund.”
The 906 Warrior Relief Fund provided nearly $1,400 to Feldman, who only needed to apply for it. Yet the relief fund was not the only one that helped him. Hakala Well Pump Service assisted as well. The company spent more than 40 minutes in the cold taking apart the well pump and fixing it.
“They didn’t charge me a penny. They said sometimes it’s not about the money,” Feldman said.
Feldman found himself in a dire situation this winter and is very thankful for those who helped him out and recommends the 906 Warrior Relief Fund to any veteran in dire straits.
“Absolutely without question, they were really nice and treated me like a human being. They pretty much did everything, and all I had to do was fill out a small application,” said Feldman. “They helped me out when no one would.”
