West End Health Foundation awards grants

NEGAUNEE -- The West End Health Foundation awarded its 2024 Programmatic Grant recipients at a Business After Hours event on Nov. 6, hosted at the Upper Peninsula Brewing Company.

With Midtown Bakery catering the food and the U.P. Brewing Company providing drinks, the foundation honored its grant recipients, celebrating a total of $50,000 in funds allocated to various community organizations this year.

The WEHF board of directors presented checks to the following grant recipients:

≤ the Alzheimer's Association Michigan Chapter received $6,500 for its West End Marquette County Dementia Outreach and Awareness program

≤ Cancer Care of Marquette County received $10,000 for patient care services

≤ Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes received $2,500 for establishing equity in Western Marquette County's Girl Scout Leadership Experience

≤Ishpeming-Negaunee- NICE Community Education Division received $7,500 for its Adult Basic Education and Beyond 26 programs

≤ Room at the Inn received $2,000 for its Scattered Site family emergency shelter

≤ the Northern Lights Child Advocacy Center received $10,000 for Triage Response-Child Abuse

≤ the Salvation Army of Marquette County received $5,000 for its Bridging the Gap program

≤ U.P. Children's Therapy received $6,500 for its summer speech therapy program

The Marquette County Cares coalition was also honored by the WEHF Board of Directors with an award of $18,423 from the 2024 Annual Golf Classic event partnership in September.

"The West End Health Foundation is delighted to provide $50,000 in funding to eight organizations through this year's Programmatic Grant Cycle. These grants support programs and services that enhance health and wellness throughout the West End," said Tom Edmark, president of the West End Health Foundation, in a press release.
