Car dealership helps cover costs of adopting adult animals

GWINN — Fox Marquette Subaru and the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter have joined forces to help older shelter animals find loving homes.
In October, Fox Marquette Subaru will donate $4,000 to help cover fees associated with adoption, spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchips and more for adopted dogs and cats aged 1 year or older.
Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to check out the UPAWS website for adoptable animals, as meet-and-greets/adoptions are done by appointment only in order to qualify for the event.
UPAWS also encourages potential pet owners to fill out an adoption interest form for preapproval, and visitors can schedule their meet-and-greet appointments online.
Adoptions taking place prior to October, including fostering to adopt, do not qualify.
The adoption interest form is located on the UPAWS website at upaws.org/animal-interest-form/.
Applicants can schedule a meet-and-greet at picktime.com/upaws.
UPAWS is open from noon to 4 p.m. every day except Monday. It is located at 815 S. M-553 in Gwinn.
Additional questions can be directed to UPAWS by giving them a call at 906-475-6661, emailing them at supervisors@upaws.org, or visiting their website at upaws.org.
