Single-vehicle accident results in fatality in Menominee County

MENOMINEE — Menominee County Sheriff Mike Holmes reports that at approximately 3:44 p.m. on Tuesday, Menominee County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the area of M-35 and Million Dollar Road for a single-vehicle accident.

Deputies were advised that one person was entrapped in the vehicle and not breathing.

Deputies arrived on the scene to find that the involved pickup truck had left the roadway and struck a large tree, causing airbag deployment and disabling damage.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 64-year-old male from Cedar River, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Menominee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by personnel from the city of Menominee Fire Department, Menominee-Ingalston Fire Department, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division, Aurora Medical Center Bay Area paramedics, the Emergency Rescue Squad, Menominee County 911, the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office-Victim Services Unit, and Anderson-Diehn Funeral Home.
