MARQUETTE — On Sunday morning in waters just off the Marquette Harbor Lighthouse, the U.S. Coast Guard received a report of a sinking vessel.
The Coast Guard crew responded with its 45-foot medium-sized response boat and rescued the two people who were sitting on top of their capsized vessel. The Coast Guard reported that the two sailors were wearing lifejackets, which it said proved vital to their safety until the Coast Guard arrived.
“The best lifejacket is the one you will wear,” said a Coast Guard spokesperson.
