Lt. gov to attend U.P. State Fair in Whitmer’s place

ESCANABA — Due to a scheduling conflict, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer will be unable to attend the Upper Peninsula State Fair and will be sending Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist on her behalf.

“Gov. Whitmer’s northern Michigan representative called a week ago and said that the governor had a scheduling conflict,” said Delta County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Vickie Micheau. “… While we will miss her at the luncheon, we are excited to welcome Lt. Gov. Gilchrist to the U.P. State Fair and look forward to another excellent event with our special guests.”

The Mining Journal was unable to reach Whitmer’s office.

Gilchrist will speak in place of Whitmer and entertain guests at the lunch with the lieutenant governor at 11 a.m. Thursday.

An individual ticket for this event is $35 with tickets available to reserve tables of 12 for $420.

Alexandria Bournonville can be reached at 906-228-2500, ext. 506. Her email address is abournonville@miningjournal.net.

Starting at $3.23/week.
