MARQUETTE — The Marquette car show, Classic Cars on Third, is returning for its eighth year this Saturday. It will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and located on North Third Street between Ohio and Park streets.

This year is somewhat unique, said business outreach and promotions director Michael Bradford at the Marquette Downtown Development Authority. The Classic Cars on Third show this year includes not only cars and trucks but motorcycles as well, he said.

Bradford said that the car show will commemorate Jessica Drummond, a 22-year-old victim killed in a domestic violence incident in a double murder-suicide in November 2018. All of the money raised for this car show will go to support other victims of domestic violence at the Women’s Center in Marquette.

There will be bucket raffles, places to donate money, music from a DJ, events for kids and plenty of vintage cars and bikes, said Bradford.

“Remember, this is the second year of the social district,” Bradford said. “So adults will be able to walk the event and enjoy a beer or other beverage.”

“We have a goal of making $20,000 this year,” said Women’s Center development director Andrea Numikoski. “This year we have made some enhancements. … There are vintage motorcycles…. Marquette County Health Department has graciously sponsored the Kids Corner. They will be having games, face painting and goodie bags. Debaker Farms has donated 100 chocolate milk and strawberry milk … simply because as a women’s center we want to promote healthy family relationships.”

There will also be various food vendors at the show, Spicy Girl Pizza and Bodega Boho, said Numiksoki.

For those looking to display a car, truck or motorcycle, there is no registration or fee necessary to display a vehicle.

All that needs to be done is to arrive at the car show area between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. from Washington Street, heading north on Third Street to the corner of Ohio and Third streets, where the show area starts.

Volunteers will also be on site to assist those looking to find a spot for their vehicle.
