19-year-old arrested, faces drug charges
MARQUETTE — A 19-year-old male resident of Marquette was arrested and charged with intent to deliver controlled substances on Aug. 5.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., an officer from the Marquette Police Department initiated a traffic stop near on South Fifth Street near West Spring Street for a motor vehicle code violation.
During the stop, observations were made regarding prohibited substances and further investigation led to the discovery of a large quantity of a controlled prescription substance.
The driver was arrested for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and was lodged at the Marquette County Jail.
A search warrant was obtained for the driver’s residence following observations and information gained during the traffic stop. Additional controlled/illegal substances were located during the search.
The incident remains under investigation and additional charges may be forthcoming.
