MARQUETTE — The state of Michigan has recently surpassed California in cannabis sales, according to a leading cannabis industry agency.

BDSA, an industry data analyst, reports that in the past two years, Michigan has sold more cannabis flower, although California remains the leader in dollar sales.

In Michigan, there are nearly 1,000 cannabis retail stores. The greater Marquette area has six stores and more are located elsewhere in Marquette County.

The state logged nearly $275 million in cannabis sales in May.
