MARQUETTE — Melody Wagner launched her campaign for state representative in the 109th District Saturday at the Ramada Inn in Marquette.
Wagner, a Republican who has unsuccessfully sought the office on previous occasions, said that this will be her winning year.
She provided beverages and desserts to eventgoers, all paid for by the Committee to Elect Melody Wagner. Many local politicians attended this meeting, including fellow state representative candidate Margaret Brumm and vice chair of the Marquette County GOP Danielle Walin.
The event was open to the public and eventgoers had the opportunity to express concerns about political issues, visit or just enjoy the company of the gathering, said Wagner.
In the Republican primary, Wagner is currently facing Karl Bohnak, Burt Mason and George Meister.
Democrats running in that primary are Brumm, Randy Girard and incumbent Jenn Hill.
Wagner said one of her main goals as state representative is to deal with statewide and local governmental corruption in Michigan’s government.
“Folks need to know … I am a former farmer and a former police officer. All I know is hard work,” said Wagner. “We are going after this again and I hope to win it for the people and go down to Lansing for the people.”
