IPD officer fired amid sexual misconduct claims

ISHPEMING — An Ishpeming police officer has been fired amid claims of sexual misconduct and providing alcohol to minors.

Travis Hardwicke, 28, was the officer dismissed, according to a statement released by Ishpeming Police Chief Chad Radabaugh.

“When we were made aware of the allegations against Travis Hardwicke, we immediately placed him on administrative leave, removed his policing authority and contacted detectives with the Michigan State Police,” he said. “Following an investigation, he was terminated. These charges reflect the seriousness of his alleged conduct. We will have no further comment on this pending litigation and would direct any further questions to the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office.”

The Mining Journal was unable to confirm if formal charges have been authorized by the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office.
