Two arrested in Calumet meth bust

MARQUETTE — Two Houghton County residents are in police custody after a Friday drug bust in Calumet.

A 37-year-old Calumet man and a 34-year-old Lake Linden woman were arrested Friday after the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at a Calumet residence.

After the search was completed, UPSET detectives seized approximately 6.5 ounces of crystal methamphetamine and $6,851 in cash and other evidence which police say is related to meth distribution.

Detectives also found blasting caps during the search, which led to the Michigan State Police Bomb Sqaud being requested on site to safely remove the devices from the residence.

Both of the suspects were lodged in the Houghton County Jail.

UPSET was assisted at the site by the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department, officers from the MSP Calumet Post, the MSP K-9 unit and the MSP Bomb Squad.
