No injuries reported in Michigamme house fire

MARQUETTE — A Michigamme home sustained heavy damage from a Sunday night fire.
At approximately 11:07 p.m. Sunday, the Michigamme-Spurr Fire Department and First Responder Team were dispatched by Marquette County Central Dispatch to a structure fire at 203 W. Railroad St. in the village of Michigamme. No injuries were reported.
Upon arrival, fire crews found heavy fire and smoke coming from the third story of a large Victorian-style home. The fire appeared to have started from a stove pipe that was being used as a chimney for a fireplace, said Michigamme Fire Chief Joseph Perry.
The home sustained heavy fire and water damage. The family is being assisted by the Marquette County Pigs-N-Heat Fire Relief Fund.
Champion and Humboldt fire departments assisted with tanker support and manpower. Ishpeming City Fire Department assisted with its aerial truck. The Covington and L’Anse fire departments also assisted with tanker support.
Also assisting on the scene were the Michigan State Police, U.P. Health Systems-West Ambulance and Wisconsin Electric.
