ST. IGNACE -- A husband and wife from Germfask were arraigned on Feb. 1 and charged with charges including attempted murder.
The couple, identified as Benjamin and Lindsay Watts, were also charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and with felony firearm. Both were able to post a $10,000 bond -- along with a GPS tether for supervision -- and are scheduled in court at 9 a.m Monday.
Mackinac County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a male subject who had been shot at the Curtis Travelers Lodge in Mackinac County's Portage Township.
While en route, the deputies learned that a physical altercation began between the male victim and the male suspect, Benjamin Watts. The Watts couple then fled the scene in a black Jeep headed westbound from the location, leaving the victim on scene and conscious.
Deputies arrived and secured the location while Portage Township EMS began medical treatment on the victim, who sustained a graze wound to the side of his head. He was then transported to Helen Newberry Joy Hospital for additional medical treatment and is expected to recover from his injury.
Benjamin and Lindsay Watts were found at a nearby residence, where the deputies along with Luce County Sheriff's Office, Michigan State Police and Department of Natuaral Resources were able to make contact and take them into custody.
