MAPS embezzlement incident investigated

MARQUETTE -- Marquette Area Public Schools contacted the Marquette Police Department concerning possible embezzlement on Dec. 19.

Allegedly, the incident occurred at the Marquette Senior High School Central Administration Office.

Marquette Police began an investigation promptly. According to Chief Ryan Grim, a suspect has been identified but has not yet been charged.

"Our administrative team has taken action to assure no further damage may occur," said MAPS Superintendent Zack Sedgwick. "We appreciate the trust our community places in us and will continue providing our full support to the Marquette Police Department as they investigate this incident."

When contacted, Sedgwick declined further comment.

As of Tuesday, the MPD investigation is still ongoing.
