Ishpeming woman charged with homicide, arson for fire that killed Glenn Andrews

BOXLEY

ISHPEMING — An Ishpeming woman has been charged with homicide and arson for a March structure fire that killed Glenn Andrews, the owner of Glenn’s Smokehouse.

Julie Boxley, 52, was charged Monday evening with one count of homicide first degree and one count of arson first degree in the Marquette County 96th District Court.

The 96th District Court said in an email to The Mining Journal that if convicted, Boxley would face life without parole for the homicide charge and three years to life for the arson charge.

The Ishpeming Township Fire Department responded to a two-story house fire on March 5 in the 170 block of Silver Street in Ishpeming. Boxley and Andrews were able to evacuate the house fire before being transported to UP Health System-Marquette.

Andrews later died on March 19 from injuries related to the fire. Since August 2022, there have been three reported fires on Silver Street.

Roger McCoy died in his home during a structure fire in August 2022, and another small fire, believed to be arson, was reported in September 2022.

Boxley’s arraignment in 96th District Court has been scheduled for 8:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27.

She is also facing charges in Alger County Circuit Court for great bodily harm less than murder and assault with intent to murder after allegedly lighting her then-husband, James Boxley, on fire at their apartment on Christmas Day in 2021.
