Investigation into cause of fire at popular eatery continues

MARQUETTE -- No injuries have been reported after a structure fire at a Marquette restaurant.
Marquette City Fire Department responded to a structure fire at Jeffrey's Restaurant at 300 S. McClellan Ave., on Thursday.
Units arrived at 6:31 p.m. and found the building "charged with smoke and a fire in the kitchen area," according to a MCFD press release.
"Crews established command, secured a water supply and pulled a 1.75" hose line to the west side entrance," MCFD said in the press release. "The fire was knocked down and crews searched for fire extension. Salvage and overhaul operations were completed."
A MCFD Investigator is on scene investigating the cause of the fire. According to MCFD, a damage estimate to the building is unknown at this time.
MCFD was assisted by the Marquette Township Fire Department, Chocolay Township Fire Department, Marquette Police Department, UP Health System-Marquette 141, Marquette Board of Light and Power and Semco Gas Company.
The Mining Journal reached out to Jeffrey's Restaurant for comment but did not hear back before press deadline.
