2-car accident leads to fire

MARQUETTE — A two-vehicle accident on Tuesday led to one of the vehicles catching on fire.

The Marquette City Fire Department responded to the intersection of Presque Isle Avenue and Waldo Street for the accident, according a MCFD press release.

“En route we were notified that one of the vehicles was smoking,” according to an MCFD press release. “Arriving on scene, units found a minivan with the engine compartment fully engulfed.”

Crews were able to knock the fire down quickly and clean up debris and placed oil dry absorbent on spilled fluids. No injuries were reported in the accident.

MCFD was assisted by the Marquette Police Department, Northern Michigan University Public Safety and UP Health System-Marquette.
