MDOT schedules public meeting to discuss roundabout project

ISHPEMING — The Michigan Department of Transportation is inviting the public to discuss an upcoming roundabout project in Ishpeming.

MDOT will host a public meeting on at 2 p.m. Monday to discuss building a roundabout at the intersection of U.S. 41/M-28 and Lakeshore Drive in Ishpeming.

According to MDOT’s press release, MDOT plans to invest about $6.4 million in the project. Work will include asphalt rebuilding, drainage work, guardrail, lighting, signs and pavement markings.

Work is expected to begin with preliminary activity in September and be completed through four main phases in 2024.

The project is expected to be completed in October 2024.

During the project, one lane will be open in each direction on U.S. 41/M-28 with local traffic detoured during some phases of the project.
