Marshal shot in Goetzville

GOETZVILLE — A marshal was shot on Wednesday while a Special Operations Group with the U.S. Marshals Service was trying to recover several youths from a noncustodial parent.

The USMS issued a statement on the matter.

“At approximately 10 a.m., a deputy U.S. marshal assigned to the Special Operations Group was shot and injured at a residence in Goetzville, Michigan,” it said. “SOG was on scene to recover two critically endangered youths and arrest the noncustodial parent, Giovanni McNab, who is wanted out of Christian County, Missouri, for abduction and parental kidnapping.

“Members of SOG had set up a perimeter around the residence when McNab exited the residence and fired multiple shots at the team.”

The SOG member who was struck is in stable condition. The incident was ongoing as of press time.
