GWINN -- Dr. Sara Croney has been named the new interim superintendent and director of curriculum of Gwinn Area Community Schools.
Croney succeeds the previous superintendent, Brandon Bruce, who resigned to take a position with Hart Public Schools.
Croney most recently was superintendent with the School District of Maple in Wisconsin.
Brad Pfluger, who had been acting as GACS interim superintendent, said the position is expected to be filled permanently by Jan. 1.
Croney and the GACS Board of Education agreed upon a contingency plan that she would remain in the position until June 30 if a suitable replacement were not found through the Michigan Association of School Boards search.
