MARQUETTE -- The city of Marquette Office of Arts and Culture announced the winners of the 26th annual Art Awards, which will be presented on Oct. 15.
This red-carpet affair honors outstanding individuals who have made an impact on the arts and culture in Marquette. The awards show will be held at the Masonic Building's Red Room, 128 W. Washington St.
"The Art Awards recognize those who have shown excellence in their art form, but more than that, whose work has had a real impact on our community," said Tiina Morin, city of Marquette arts and culture manager, in an email. "This year's recipients reach far beyond their own creative practice. They are the kind of people who ask you to join them and encourage us to develop our own creative agency.
"People come to Marquette for the rich cultural opportunities, but more than that, to be a part of a community that supports creative expression in all its forms and extends an open invitation to be a part of it."

≤ Special Recognition: Aaron Peterson
≤ Youth: Leo Barch (visual artist) and Lane Parks (performing artist)
This event is free and open to the public with a semi-formal suggested dress code to match the occasion.
