Police locate suspect in fatal crash

MARINETTE, Wis. — The Marinette, Wisconsin, Police Department has identified a person of interest and located a suspect vehicle regarding a hit-and-run fatal incident that took place on Saturday.

That person is cooperating with law enforcement authorities and their investigation, the Marinette agency said on its Facebook page. It also stressed that there is no threat to the public.

Marinette police said that at about 2:18 a.m. Saturday, Marinette County Dispatch received a 911 call on a report of an individual on a bike who had been struck by a vehicle on the Highway 41 Interstate Bridge linking Marinette and Menominee.

Upon arrival, officers located a 48-year-old unresponsive male and immediately started to render lifesaving measures. The male was pronounced deceased on the scene as a result of his injuries.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending the notification to family.

Several agencies responded to the scene to assist, including the Marinette Fire Department, Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area EMS personnel, Marinette Emergency Rescue Squad, the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Menominee Fire Department and the Menominee Police Department.
