MARQUETTE -- Brian McEachern, a former dispatch supervisor for the Michigan State Police, was sentenced to 25 to 50 years in prison on Friday in Marquette County Circuit Court on a charge of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree.
McEachern was found guilty in a jury trial on May 11 in Marquette County Circuit Court on three CSC charges: first-degree CSC (victim under 13), a felony that carries a minimum sentence of 25 years; third-degree CSC, a 15-year felony; and fourth-degree CSC, a two-year high-court misdemeanor.
On Friday, McEachern was sentenced to six to 15 years for the CSC-third degree offense and received credit for time served for the CSC-fourth degree offense.
All sentences will be served concurrently, county Prosecuting Attorney Matt Wiese said.
Wiese said McEachern will be eligible for parole after he has served 25 years of his sentence.
McEachern was the focus of a criminal investigation by detectives assigned to the Michigan State Police related to off-duty activity. The investigation, according to the MSP, began following a complaint received on Dec. 20, 2020.
McEachern had been employed by the MSP since Dec. 6, 1992, but was suspended from employment on Jan. 6, 2021.
In 2017, McEachern received the Floyd R. Bell Jr. Civilian of the Year award by the MSP.
