MARQUETTE --The following Fourth of July events are scheduled around the central and western Upper Peninsula.
Baraga
The Baraga County Lumberjack Days will be on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4 this year.
Monday events:
≤ Gates open for Queen Coronation and street dance at 6:30 p.m. on Superior Avenue in front of Wilkinson's.
≤ Introduction of the honorees, including 2023 Grand Marshal Doreen Blaker, Prince and Princess Tyson Gerard and Amya VanDyke, and military escort Tim "Stubby" Walters. The queen coronation will begin at 7:30 p.m.
≤ The community street dance featuring the band 'Live Wire' will be from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
On July 4, events are:
≤ The pancake breakfast by Baraga Lions Club will be from 8 a.m. to noon at Baraga Area Schools.
≤ The 5K run sponsored by Marquette Fit Body Boot Camp will begin at 8 a.m. at the American Legion Post #444.
≤ The flag-raising ceremony at American Legion Post #444 will begin at 11:45 a.m.
≤ At noon, the children's parade will begin at American Legion Post #444 with children's games at the corner of Girard Street and Superior Avenue to follow.
≤ The coin scramble sponsored by and held at Superior National Bank at wil be at 1:30 p.m.
≤ Parade line-up begins at Baraga Armory at 2 p.m.
≤ The float judging will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Baraga Armory.
≤ The Baraga County Lumberjack Days parade will begin at 3:30 p.m.
≤ From 4 to 8 p.m. there will be live music from Lightning Ridge Trio at American Legion Post #444.
≤ From 5:30. to 8:30 p.m. the bean bag tournament will be held. Registration is from 2 to 4 p.m. at American Legion Post #444.
≤ Fireworks over Keweenaw Bay sponsored by the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community will begin at dusk.

Curtis
The 50th annual Independence Day celebration in Curtis on Saturday, July 1 and Sunday, July 2.
Saturday events include:
≤ The Curtis Independence Day golf tournament at the JB Memorial Golf Course in Germfask at 9 a.m.
≤ Vendor Field and Beer Tent from noon to 6 p.m. at Erickson Center for the Arts
≤ Live music from noon to 6 p.m. provided by Tara Handrich Schwerin, PBR Band and Mark Blomsteel Band.
Sunday events include:
≤ Vendor Field from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Erickson Center for the Arts.
≤ Lions Chicken BBQ beginning at 11 a.m. until gone at the Lions Club Pavillion.
≤ Chamber Beer Tent opens at noon at Erickson Center Field.
≤ The 50th annual Independence Day parade begins at 12:30 p.m. on Main Street going from east to west and ending at the Erickson Center for the Arts.
≤ Live Field Music begins at 2 p.m. at the Erickson Center Pavilion with Superior Pipes & Drums, Monique, Fyrbird and more playing in the parade.
≤ Fireworks will be at dusk.
Forsyth Township
Forsyth Township's Independence Day celebration will be held on July 1, 3 and 4.
≤ On Saturday, from 7 p.m. to midnight, the street dance at Peter Nordeen Park will be held with music by The Band Reverend.
Fireworks will be at dusk on Monday, at the baseball fields. If it rains, fireworks will be held Tuesday.
Tuesday, activities include:
≤ The Independence Day parade starting at 10 a.m. with the lineup beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Gilbert School.
≤ Games in the park will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
≤ A martial arts demonstration will be at 12:30 p.m.
≤ A bean bag tournament will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Grand Marais
The Grand Marais Chamber of Commerce will host a two-day Fourth of July celebration.
Monday festivities are:
≤ Pick-up softball game behind the community center will be at 1 p.m. including 50/50 raffles and concessions.
≤ The pavilion street dance will be from 7 to 11 p.m.
≤ Professional fireworks by Night Magic will begin at dusk.
Tuesday festivities are:
≤ Main Street parade beginning at Lake Avenue will start at 1 p.m.
≤ The Methodist Church pie sale will follow the parade along with the water- barrel fights, kids games in the green space will follow.
≤ The Historical Society silent auction and kids raffle will be from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Post Office Museum.
Ishpeming
The City of Ishpeming's Independence Day Celebration will begin on Saturday.
≤ The Daryl Champion Kids Parade will begin at 9:45 a.m. Meet in The Mather Inn parking lot and ride down to Main Street.
≤ The Ishpeming Fourth of July Parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Empire Street.
≤ Food vendors including Croatian chicken and Journey's Eatz will be at Al Quaal Recreation Area from noon until dusk.
≤ Live music will include The Band Stetson and the DayDreamers.
≤ Kids games will be available at the Al Quaal pavilion from 2 to 7 p.m. with bounce houses sponsored by the Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce.
≤ Fireworks are set to begin around 10:30 p.m.

Marquette
The Marquette Area Fourth of July Celebration Committee's celebrations include the Marquette County Exchange Club's Food Fest, the Kiwanis Club of Marquette Parade, fireworks and for the first time, a sensory-friendly laser light show.
≤ Marquette County Exchange Club's International Food Fest will run Sunday, until Tuesday, in Mattson Lower Harbor Park. Vendors include Babushka's Polish Foods, The Island, Chippers 906 and Lake Superior Smokehouse Brewpub. On Sunday the fest will go from noon to 10 p.m. On Monday, 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Tuesday, noon to 10 p.m. A full schedule can be found at facebook.com/MQT4THJULY.
≤ The Marquette Independence Day Boat Parade will be on Monday at 9 p.m. Parade line-up starts at the "elbow" in the lower harbor breakwater. In the case of bad weather, the parade will be rescheduled for Tuesday.
≤ Fireworks will begin at dusk on Monday, at the lower harbor with a custom laser light show to go along with the fireworks.
≤ The Kiwanis Club of Marquette Parade will be on Tuesday at 2 p.m. on Washington Street. The former director of the Upper Peninsula Children's Museum, Nheena Weyer Ittner, will serve as grand marshal with Mayor Cody Mayer, Kiwanis police, firefighter and public works employees of the year and others being honored. The parade will be on Washington Street.
≤ For the first time, the sensory-friendly Fourth of July Laser Light Show will begin at dusk on Tuesday on the Lower Harbor Ore Dock. The committee worked with Fresh Coast Light Lab to design the Fourth of July Laser Light Show.

Michigamme
Michigamme Fourth of July celebrations will be held on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4.
On Monday concessions open at 6 p.m. at the Michigamme Township Park with a boat parade at 7 p.m. and live music from 8 p.m. to midnight.
On Tuesday, the parade will begin at 11 a.m. This year's theme is "red, white and boom." After the parade, races, kids carnival, food and more will be at the park.
Munising
The Munising Fourth of July celebration will be held on Tuesday, July 4.
≤ The 5k fun run and walk will begin at 8:30 a.m.
≤ Flag raising will be at 10 a.m.
≤ The parade begins at noon.
≤ The watermelon-eating contest at the gazebo will be at 2:45 p.m.
≤ Free ice cream will be served at 4:15 p.m.
≤ The water fight by Munising Volunteer Fire Department will be at 4:30 p.m.
≤ The grease pole at the dock will be at 5:15 p.m.
≤ The egg-throwing contest will be at 8 p.m. at the gazebo.
≤ Fireworks will start when it gets dark.

Negaunee
Negaunee's Pioneer Days celebration will be from June 30 to July 8.
On Friday, the Little Miss Pioneer Princess & Junior Miss Pioneer Princess pageant will be held at the Negaunee High School auditorium at 6 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students; people 65 years-old and older get in free.
From June 30 to July 7, the NHS Alumni Games will be held. For the full bracket, visit negauneeirontown.org/alumni-softball.html. The first game will be on June 30 at 5 p.m. at LaCombe Field.
Saturday festivities include:
≤ The Pioneer Days Parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Negaunee Senior Center. Line up for the parade will be at 10:30 a.m.
≤ Music in the park with live music, beer tent and food trucks will be at Old Town Park from 2 to 7 p.m.
≤ Negaunee's fireworks will begin at dusk over Teal Lake.

Trenary
The Trenary Lions Club will host the Independence Day Celebration on Saturday.
The parade will begin at 1 p.m. with races and games to follow at the Trenary Lions Club Park.
