Pictured Rocks Days/Yoopers Ride Free set for June 10-11

MUNISING-- Pictured Rocks Days will rock the shores of Lake Superior again this summer.
The two-day-long festival will be held at Binsfeld Bayshore Park in downtown Munising Saturday, June 10, and Sunday, June 11. Pictured Rocks Cruises will hold its Yoopers Ride Free event in conjunction with the two-day festival.
This festival is organized annually by the Alger County Chamber of Commerce. It originated with a collaboration between the chamber and Pictured Rocks Cruises in 2013 after the success of the boat company's initial Yoopers Ride Free event in 2012, according to an ACCC press release.
Thousands of visitors come for a Pictured Rocks tour. One thousand free tickets will be provided at the start of each day, weather permitting, on a first-come, first-served basis.
"We are wholeheartedly looking forward to spring and having Pictured Rocks Days as our yearly kickoff for the summer season here in downtown Munising. This event is not only enjoyed by thousands of visitors that come to our area, but also our community," said Kathy Reynolds, CEO of the Alger County Chamber of Commerce. "I think one of the big reasons we have done so well over the years is because we offer something for everyone of every age. Whether that is a variety of music .. .having 100+ venors or … the ability to do other activities in our area before and after … the festival. In addition, people are ready to get outdoors and this is one, if not the largest, event at this time of the year in the U.P."
Live music will be provided courtesy of Troy Graham, DayDreamers, Whiskey Ryan and Catfish Kennedy, Jim and Ray and The Make-Believe Spurs. Food trucks, bounce houses, a petting zoo and vendor booths will also be available thoughtout the weekend.
"Munising Visitors Bureau is excited to be included as a community partner in our annual summer kickoff event. We appreciate and see all the work the chamber and the cruises put in to make this event happen and are grateful to be able to work with such dynamic partners," said Cori Ann Cearley, president of the Munising Visitors Bureau, a large sponsor of the event.
U.P. residents who are interested in the free Pictured Rocks Cruises during the event must show photo ID with an Upper Peninsula address in-person at the Pictured Rocks Cruises box office on Park City Drive in Munising.
