Three killed in 2-vehicle accident
IRON MOUNTAIN — A two-vehicle accident left three dead and three others injured, including two children, in Dickinson County Sunday afternoon.
Police say that at approximately 3:07 p.m., a 2013 Ford Taurus was traveling northbound along Foster City Road in Waucedah Township when the vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and struck a 2006 Buick Rendezvous.
According to police, the driver of the Rendezvous tried to brake but was unable to avoid the collision.
The two occupants of the Ford Taurus, the 52-year-old female driver and her 56-year-old male passenger, both of Felch, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Buick Rendezvous, a 46-year-old Norway man, was also pronounced dead at the scene. A child in the vehicle was airlifted to Marshfield Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin, in critical condition.
A 39-year-old female passenger from Kingsford was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin, for non-life threatening injuries and a second child was transported to Marshfield/Dickinson Hospital for minor injuries.
Police say that speed is believed to be a factor in the accident; however the crash remains under investigation.
The Dickinson County Sheriff Department was assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police; the Michigan Department of Natural Resources; Norway Fire, Town & Country; North Alert; Nordic Ambulance; and Integrity Ambulance.
