2 unarmed robberies attempted in Negaunee

NEGAUNEE — The Negaunee City Police Department responded to two unarmed robbery attempts in the city Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the first incident occured at about 4:30 p.m.

Officers were dispatched to an unarmed robbery attempt at Embers Credit Union in Negaunee. Just moments later as officers were arriving on the scene of the first attempted robbery, a second unarmed robbery attempt was reported at Super One Foods in Negaunee.

A 58-year-old Negaunee resident was arrested in connection with the robbery attempts and is currently lodged at the Marquette County Jail pending arraignment.

Police say that no employees at either location were harmed and no money or property was stolen.

The Negaunee City Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police, Marquette County Sheriff’s Office and the Ishpeming City Police Department.
