Search for missing woman continues

MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of a missing person from downstate Wixom.

MCSO said that on Sunday, it took a complaint on a missing person who is believed to have traveled to the local area.

Sheriff’s deputies received information from the Wixom Police Department that 31-year-old Olivia Lauren Ernst might have traveled to the Marquette area and that she was threatening self-harm.

Deputies located the car Ernst had been driving on County Road KO, also known as Buckroe Road, off County Road 550.

Deputies also found personal items belonging to Ernst near the water on the Lake Superior shoreline.

The U.S. Coast Guard was notified along with the MCSO Special Operations Division. The Lake Superior shoreline and area was searched by boats from the Coast Guard and the MCSO Special Operations Division. A Coast Guard helicopter was requested and also came to the area, conducting a search with negative results.

MCSO will continue to investigate the situation and asks anyone with information on Ernst or her location to contact the agency at 906-225-8435 or Central Dispatch at 906-475-9912.
