Ishpeming schools superintendent to retire in September

ISHPEMING — Ishpeming Public Schools Superintendent Carrie Meyer has announced her retirement.

“I am retiring as of Sept. 1, 2022, after working for 25 years in education, the last seven of those years in Ishpeming,” Meyer said in an email. “I had an amazing career working with great people.”

Meyer said the IPS Board of Education will start the search for a new superintendent soon.

Meyer previously was superintendent of L’Anse Area Schools for more than two years. Prior to that, she spent eight years as a math teacher and eight years as a principal, abd then underwent training with the former superintendent of L’Anse schools.
