Homicide suspect ID’d, arraigned

HANCOCK — The suspect in a Monday homicide in Houghton County’s Franklin Township was arraigned on Wednesday in 97th District Court.

According to a news release from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post, Isaiah Strieter, 18, from the Houghton/Hancock area, was arraigned on open murder charges in the death of 38-year-old Ashlee Harvey, also from the Houghton/Hancock area.

MSP said troopers from the Calumet Post were dispatched at about 2:20 p.m. Monday to investigate a reported shooting at a home on Quincy Street in Franklin Township. Troopers and members of the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene and found a deceased female.

Members of the 8th District Special Investigations Section and the MSP Forensic Science Laboratory in Marquette also responded to the scene.

MSP said the investigation is ongoing and no further details will be released at this time.
