MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Health Department has free KN95 masks available to the public, which have been provided by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

KN95 masks are available in the front entrance of the Marquette County Health Department, located at 184 U.S. 41 East in Negaunee, during business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The masks will be available while supplies last.

Free masks also may be available throughout Marquette County at MDHHS offices, Aging Services offices, Community Action Alger-Marquette, federally qualified health centers and pharmacies. Individuals are asked to check with the individual agencies for more information on availability.

MCHD asks people to get vaccinated, wear a mask, stay home if sick, isolate or quarantine if needed and wash hands often.

LMAS updates numbers

The Luce-Mackinac-Alger-Schoolcraft County District Health Department posted on Facebook on Wednesday that in the four-county district, 170 individuals tested positive for COVID-19 since Monday.

Also, one Alger County resident died.

The totals were: Luce County, 26; Mackinac County, 59; Alger County, 45 plus one death; and Schoolcraft County, 40.

“Get vaccinated or get your booster if you’re eligible,” the post reads. “Wear a multilayer mask that fits properly without gaps covering your mouth and nose.

“Masks should be worn in any public indoor setting, any crowded outdoor setting, or private indoor setting that includes those not from your immediate household.”
